SUMMARY:First Gen Friday
DESCRIPTION:First thing’s first – What is a first-gen student? According to SUNY guidelines you could be a first-generation student if your parents or caregivers did not attend or complete a college degree. Being the first in your family to attend college is a reason for celebration!  WOW! \nWe’re here for you every step of the way! \nAre you confused about how to navigate college? We’re here to support you.  Come by the Student Lounge with your questions between 10am and 12pm this Friday. You do not need an appointment\, just walk in and a representative will be there to help you. \nHere’s what every first-gen student should know: \nYou’re not alone. It is very common to be the first in your family to go to college. \nYou got this. Not having the prior experiences of family members to help you navigate college means you may need to ask more questions\, that’s all! \nYou belong here. College is for everyone. Your unique talents\, experiences\, and input are valuable to our campus community. \nYou should be proud. Being a first-gen student is an achievement. You’re paving your own path and pursuing college education for the future you envision for yourself. \nYou deserve it. Going to college is a good thing. You’re opening the door to growth and opportunity. A degree is something no one can take away from you\, and you can always be proud of it. \nMost importantly\, you have support. We are here to help you through college. Whether you need academic\, financial\, physical\, or mental health support\, ample resources are available.
