SUMMARY:Pop-up Community Event: Freedom of Speech in New York: The Zenger Trial by Albert M. Rosenblatt
DESCRIPTION:The Engagement Office invites you to join us for this pop-up event! \nFreedom of Speech in New York: The Zenger Trial by Albert M. Rosenblatt\nThursday\, January 22\, 6:00pm – 7:30pm (EST)\nHudson Area Library – Community Room\, 51 N 5th St\, Hudson\, NY 12534 \nThe Jacob Leisler Institute for the Study of Early New York History\, in collaboration with the Hudson Area Library\, hosts this in-person presentation with Professor Rosenblatt on the Zenger trial. The landmark 1735 trial of New York printer John Peter Zenger\, which acquitted him of seditious libel in publishing articles critical of New York’s colonial governor\, established the power of a jury to function as a check on government power and inspired the movement for freedom of the press later enshrined in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Its importance today is as great as it was in the eighteenth century. \nJudge Albert M. Rosenblatt served as a Judge on New York’s high court after having served on other New York Courts. A graduate of UPenn and of Harvard Law School\, Rosenblatt has written widely on New York law and culture\, including a book\, with his wife\, Julia\, on Dutch New York. He now teaches law at NYU Law School. \nNo registration required\, all are welcome!

SUMMARY:The Human Skills AI Can't Replace: Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Teaching\, Innovation\, & Learning invites faculty to The Human Skills AI Can’t Replace. \nAs artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in our daily work\, intentionally strengthening human skills is essential to effective teaching\, leadership\, collaboration\, and decision-making. This 12-week professional development series centers on the 12 human skills that AI cannot replace\, offering a reflective\, discussion-based space to share ideas and learn from one another. Each session focuses on one skill\, inviting participants to consider how it shows up in their own roles\, how AI may support or complicate it\, and how developing human-centered capacities can enhance equity\, institutional culture\, and professional impact in an AI-saturated world. \nThis 12-part series will run from 12:30-1:30 on Wednesdays in CITL\, on the following dates: \nFebruary 11\, 18\, 25\nMarch 4\, 11\, 25\nApril 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\nMay 6 \nThis event is open to faculty\, staff\, and administration.
