2024 Summer Orientation

We are thrilled to welcome you to Columbia-Greene Community College’s Summer new student events! This summer, we have several events designed to give new or re-enrolled students like you a great kick off to your academic and social experience at the College.

Upcoming Events


Option 1: Tuesday, July 16; 2:30 – 6:00pm
Option 2: Wednesday, July 31; 8:30am- 12:00pm

Accepted Student Days are an opportunity for you to visit campus and become more comfortable with Columbia-Greene. We’ll have campus tours, a faculty led Q&A, presentations on important student resources, and the opportunity to take care of on-campus business like residency and financial aid forms, and more! There are two date & time options to best fit your schedule – July 16 or July 31. You don’t need to attend both.


Tuesday, July 16; 12:00-3:00pm or 6:00-7:00pm
Wednesday, July 31; 12:00-3:00pm
Have you completed your FAFSA yet? Our Financial Aid Team will be available for a FAFSA Completion Workshop at each Accepted Student Day. Save your spot and register now! Financial Aid will communicate with those registered regarding necessary information for completion.

Friday, August 23; 8:30am-2:00pm – Registration will open on July 10.
College Orientation features a wide range of workshops and programs with faculty, staff, and other students. This event will also identify the various College platforms and resources which will help you with classwork, being an active member of the College, and achieving your definition of success. Participation is very strongly encouraged. Guests and family members are welcomed to attend.


Frequently Asked Questions

The Accepted Student Day events are an opportunity to visit and learn about campus from faculty, staff and students, take care of business regarding necessary paperwork and account information, and have all necessary paperwork and important items completed before the semester starts. Attendance is not required but this productive three-hour event is worth attending.

Orientation, held on August 23, provides much more hands-on information regarding life as a student at CGCC. There will be specific academic sessions with faculty, opportunities to learn about free support services & resources available to students, and time with your classmates. Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged.

Placement tests are recommended to specific students during their advising session. If you are unsure if you need to take a placement test, please contact or to inquire.

Orientation will be held on Friday, August 23 at 8:30am. Registration for this event will open on July 10.

We strongly encourage all students to make arrangements to be present on August 23, but we understand if there is an unplanned conflict. Please contact if you have a conflict.

Yes! Students are eligible to bring guests to any of the hosted events. Please indicate their attendance on your registration form as we will use that information when planning materials and event logistics.

Refreshments and beverages will be provided at the Welcome Days.
Refreshments, beverages, and a full lunch will be provided at the Orientation event on August 23.
