We are thrilled to welcome you to Columbia-Greene Community College’s Summer new student events! This summer, we have several events designed to give new or re-enrolled students like you a great kick off to your academic and social experience at the College.

College Orientation
Thursday, August 27: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Participation in College Orientation is strongly encouraged for all new C-GCC students.
This event will feature:
- Specific Academic Sessions with your faculty members.
- Short presentations filled with important information to assist with your transition.
- Time to meet new fellow students, current student leaders, and staff members who you will regularly interact.
- An overview of free academic and student support resources & services.
- An opportunity to complete paperwork, see your classrooms, and take care of business.
And SO much more!
Students who previously visited the campus or attended an Accepted Students Day event should still plan to attend. This event will also have separate content for family members and guests who wish to attend. Please register by Saturday, August 22.
Event Location: The program will begin in the Arts Center Theatre near Student Parking Lots A and B.
Check-In: Check-in will be from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. in the Arts Center. Refreshments will be available during Check-In.
Event Times: The event will begin promptly at 9:00 am and will conclude by 2:30 pm for most attendees.
Please note: Students enrolled in Automotive Technology, Construction Technology, or Nursing will have an extended program until 4:30 pm.
Attendees will also receive a free lunch. Campus offices will be open after the event concludes to discuss individualized needs or requests.

Parking: Student Parking Lots A and B are located next to the Professional Academic Center (PAC). Please look for event and directional signage. The parking lot location can also be found on the campus map.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Accepted Student Day events are an opportunity to visit campus to take care of necessary business regarding registration, paperwork and account information so you can have all important items completed before the semester starts. Attendance is not required but these days offers available support for those looking for it.
Orientation, held on August 27, provides much more hands-on information regarding life as a student at C-GCC. There will be specific academic sessions with faculty, opportunities to learn about free support services & resources available to students, and time with your classmates. Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged.
Placement tests are recommended for specific students during their advising session. If you are unsure if you need to take a placement test, please speak with your Academic Advisor.
We strongly encourage all students to make arrangements to be present on August 27, but we understand if there is an unplanned conflict. Please contact student.orientation@sunycgcc.edu if you have an unavoidable conflict.
Yes! Students are eligible to bring guests to any of the hosted events. Please indicate their attendance on your registration form, as we will use that information when planning materials and event logistics.
