Students’ Rights and Responsibilities
All members of the Columbia-Greene Community College community have the right to file a report regarding matters pertaining to the code of conduct, complaints or grievances, medical concerns, and/or safety.
Please provide detailed information regarding the incident you are reporting. In completing this form, you will be asked to provide your name and contact information and to authenticate your identity. The use of this form is available to registered students, community members and members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Please be aware that you and the identified other persons may be contacted to provide further information and/or assistance. Action taken as a result of this report may be protected by federal privacy law (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and therefore become confidential information unless otherwise specified by the named student(s).
While the College takes all reports seriously, our ability to take action on anonymous reports, depending on the information that is shared, may be limited. Please know that campus safety is our utmost concern.
Questions regarding the filing of this form can be directed to the Office of Student Development at 518-697-6320.
Section 494C(j) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, provides that a student, faculty member or any other person who believes they have been aggrieved by an institution of higher education has the right to file a written complaint.
Only students who have exhausted review rights at Columbia-Greene Community College may pursue a concern or complaint with the SUNY System. The SUNY mailing address for such a purpose is State University of New York, System Administration, State University Plaza, Albany, NY 12246. More information regarding pursuing such concerns at the SUNY System level is available at http://system.suny.edu/university-life/student-concerns/.
A final level of complaint review by the New York State Education Department will only be considered if it is demonstrated that reviews at the campus and SUNY system levels have been exhausted. For more information of filing such a complaint with NYSED, see http://www.highered.nysed.gov/ocue/spr/COMPLAINTFORMINFO.html.
